Refreshing Business Practice from Bygone Days

This morning, I walked into a local donut shop and expected to pay with my debit card. However, the place accepts cash only.

Now, you know you’re in small-town America when the cashier says, “I’ll take an I.O.U.”

Such offers are unheard of in the big city. And I’m not even a regular customer since controlling my calorie intake is a daily struggle. Yet, what a refreshing encounter!

Yes, it’s true. Business practices once commonplace in our country are still alive and well here in Maine.

Frosty’s Donuts & Coffee Shops are headquartered out of Brunswick, Maine. The Gardiner store with its mom-and-pop ambience and retro décor is the one I visited today.
